Give the people what they want- options

People like options. And until recently, people only had two options when deciding between the highly coveted luxury Range Rover- both big and powerful. However, research proved that some people were looking for something a little leaner, more efficient.

"We knew there were people who wanted something smaller, lighter and more efficient, but still wanted it to be a Range Rover," said Andrew Polsinelli, the general manager for product planning at Land Rover.

The Evoque is a full 2 feet shorter than the original Rover, and it starts at a lower price point as well. This doesn't mean the Evoque cuts corners when it comes to luxury and performance. The Evoque's turbocharged 240-horsepower engine is also the first 4-cylinder gasoline engine Land Rover has offered in the United States since the 1974 models. The newest little Range Rover was adapted to be more capable handling on-road conditions, like weather and unruly roads.

The 2012 Range Rover Evoque handles more like a sports car than its predecessors. The Range Rover is known for a feeling of power and mass, while the Evoque is light and eager for speed.

The Evoque is the answer to drivers' demand for more fuel-efficient SUVs. It's got all the elegance and on-road capabilities of the Range Rover, but in the lighter- still luxury design. The Evoque might be preferable to fans of Land Rover in Daytona Beach, FL who aren't exactly roughing treacherous terrain.
