Land Rover Automakers Perfect Traffic Light-Timing

Land Rover automakers are doing more and more to increase our driving experiences. From new models like the Land Rover Range Rover Velar to new features, the automaker is always at the forefront of new vehicle technology. Whether it’s devising driving modes to better help you navigate rough terrain or keep you from getting carsick, they’re determined to change the way we drive.

Now, the automaker is at it again, this time setting their sites on those pesky traffic lights. The automaker recently announced that it’s begun testing its Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory (GLOSA) system.

The GLOSA system uses the ever popular vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology to communicate with connected traffic lights and provide drivers with the optimal speed of travel to avoid stopping at a red light. The GLOSA project is part of the British government’s UK Autodrive initiative.

“This cutting-edge technology will radically reduce the time we waste at traffic lights,” said Jaguar Land Rover connected technology engineer Oriol Quintana-Morales, according to Carscoops.com. “It has the potential to revolutionize driving by creating safe, free-flowing cities that take the stress out of commuting. Our research is motivated by the chance to make future journeys as comfortable and stress-free as possible for all our customers.”

It makes perfect sense that JLR is the automaker chosen to run this project. Not only is it the largest automaker in the UK, but they’ve also already developed other advanced safety systems like the Intersection Collision Warning, Intersection Priority Management, Emergency Vehicle Warning, and more.

While this technology is still in the early stages, we know it’s only a matter of time before new Land Rover SUVs for sale will offer it. In the meantime, visit us at Land Rover Orlando to shop new models for sale or for expert service from our Land Rover service center serving Orlando, FL.
