Redesigning a More Advanced Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender is the mystery model in the Land Rover SUV history that we can’t quit. Its return to our roads and our hearts is something that we hope to see, and now, it seems that we’re a little bit closer. Redesigning the iconic SUV is not an easy task, and Land Rover automakers are taking it seriously. A new model has to fit into the modern design and technical standards that all other Land Rover SUVs like the Land Rover Discovery do.

Speaking about the new model, Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth told CarAdvice, “Technology is going to be mandatory in the new [Land Rover] Defender. You simply can’t build this kind of vehicle without it anymore. You can’t achieve the emissions levels, and you cannot achieve the CO2 levels required of vehicles these days."

As your Orlando, FL Land Rover dealer, we want to offer drivers the best of the best, and so does the automaker. That’s why they’re putting in so much effort to update the king of off-road SUVs to provide everything from the latest technology to performance to active driver safety aids.

“I think it’s a very interesting approach to keep designing the same vehicle but move ahead with new technology inside, but at the end of the day, it’s only a halfway approach. To be really relevant while using the latest technology, and to hit all our environmental targets, we can’t keep looking back," Speth continued.

The Land Rover Defender is a vehicle that appeals to a specific driver, and the automaker has plans to make a new model that not only appeals to them, but a broader audience as well. The ultimate goal is to develop a whole line of Land Rover Defender SUVs. Contact us at Land Rover Orlando to learn more!
