Your Guide to Changing a Flat Tire

Whether you’re out adventuring far away from the Orlando, FL area, or you’re heading home from work, getting a flat tire is never a fun thing to experience. You hear the loud bang accompanied by a disturbance in your driving and begin to panic.

Here at Land Rover Orlando, we want our Land Rover SUV drivers to know what to do in the event of a flat tire. That’s why we’re breaking down the simple way to change a flat.

Before you do anything, it’s imperative that you get to a safe spot, either on the side of the highway or down a side street. Once in a secure location, put your vehicle in Park, engage the emergency brake, and turn on your hazard lights.

Now, you’ll need to locate everything you’ll need to install your spare tire. Consult your owners manual to find out where your spare tire, tire iron, and tire jack are stored.

Before you jack up your Land Rover model, you’ll need to loosen the wheel lugs over the flat tire. Using your tire iron in a counterclockwise motion, loosen the lugs until you can turn them by hand. However, don’t remove them entirely just yet.

Next, you’ll want to use your car jack to raise your SUV. Once your flat tire is completely off the ground, you can finish removing the flat tire and replace it with the spare. Align the spare tire directly over wheel studs and tighten the lugs by hand until you feel resistance. Then, lower the SUV and remove the jack. Now, finish tightening the lugs using the tire iron.

That’s it! You’ve replaced your tire. All you have to do now is quickly head to our Orlando Range Rover service center for a new tire. It’s essential that you replace your tire as soon as possible as your spare tire isn’t meant to travel long distances.
